Domenico Clerico

The Domenico Clerico winery, in Monforte d’Alba, was founded in 1976 by Domenico Clerico and Giuliana Viberti, driven by the dream of producing great wines. A story rooted in the land, in everyday work among the vines, and in continuous research, finding its deepest expression in the identity of each individual vineyard.

Domenico Clerico took on the challenge of running the family farm in 1976. At the time it was a small estate of around two hectares, producing grapes and fruit for local markets. Together with his wife Giuliana, he embarked on a journey that began in the vineyard: caring for the vines with love and dedication, building an intense and ongoing relationship with the land in order to understand its needs throughout the year. This led to the desire to produce great wines,  the search for the most suitable vineyard sites and a commitment to realising all the potential of the land. The project has grown over the years and now encompasses approximately 26 hectares of vineyards in Monforte d’Alba, within the Bussia, Ginestra and Mosconi MGAs. Today, Giuliana continues to pursue the project, together with her grandchildren Cecilia and Orlando, carrying on Domenico’s vision, centred on the importance of the territory, quality and the individual identity of each vineyard.

A journey to discover Domenico Clerico’s know-how, his “Saper Fare”, with a visit dedicated to the family’s history, the territory and the winery’s production philosophy.

CLASSIC WINE TASTING: a guided winery tour followed by a tasting of wines including Barolo del Comune di Monforte.
€30 per person – Duration: 1 hour

MONFORTE EXPERIENCE: an in-depth exploration of the vineyards of Monforte d’Alba, thanks to a tasting of six wines and an introduction to the distinctive characteristics of each vineyard.
€60 per person – Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes

CLERICO EXPERIENCE: a journey through seven different expressions of Nebbiolo, including five Barolo wines and an older vintage.
€90 per person – Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes

TAILOR MADE: a personalised, private experience, with the opportunity to taste older vintages and wines straight from the barrel, with access to the winer’s private collection.

Opening hours: the winery is open by reservation from Monday to Friday, generally with one tour in the morning and one in the afternoon; the wine shop is open from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm, Monday to Friday. At weekends, visits can be arranged by appointment.

The desire to look ahead and keep improving, never losing sight of your roots: this is Domenico Clerico’s most authentic legacy, which is still alive today in his wines and in the work carried out by the family every day.
