Under the arcades of Cherasco's historic centre, Barbero Cioccolato is a renowned pastry shop offering sweet delights in a refined setting, perfect for tastings and quality purchases.
The fascinating story of Barbero Cioccolato began in 1881 when pastry chef Marco, returning from Turin, decided to open an elegant confectionery shop in his hometown of Cherasco. With its Liberty-style décor, wooden shelves, white marble tables, and brass chandeliers, the establishment quickly attracted nobles, bourgeoisie, and scholars eager to taste the latest delicacy of the time: the "Baci di Cherasco." Created using hazelnut fragments left on the cutting board after making nougat logs, these treats remain the undisputed stars of a diverse and indulgent production.
Today, the business is run by Giancarlo Torta and his children, Luca and Cristina, in a setting that, while modernized, still preserves the magic of the original confectionery shop. The vast selection of delights, elegantly displayed in glass cabinets and antique jars, includes not only the famous Baci but also cream puffs, dry pastries, cakes, nougat, chocolates, candies, and all the sweet creations that confectionery artistry has developed over time. Guests can also enjoy guided tastings, exploring the finest cocoa blends.
