Giacomo Morra, who was deeply passionate about the region and its exquisite truffles, had a brilliant idea: every year, during the town’s truffle fair, he would select the biggest truffle and send it to famous personalities of the time. Among the recipients of this prestigious gift were Marilyn Monroe, Winston Churchill, Alfred Hitchcock, Ike Eisenhower and Sophia Loren. The result was extraordinary - the White Truffle of Alba became a coveted treasure, renowned and sought after worldwide.
Tartufi Morra continues to be a family venture, now run by the Bonino brothers. Its prestigious shop in the historical centre of Alba is a must-visit for those wishing to take home fresh truffles and unique truffle-based products. In-store tastings are also available by request.
